The following projects which I have carried out in the past are relevant to Eta Maritiem.

2010; conversion of a fuel system to allow a 6M32 engine to run on biodiesel. A project governed by Lloyds Register and Maersk Marine Technology.

2012; a fuel measurement program to verify the fuel saving characteristics of a new anti fouling system on small container feeders. Nominated for the 2013 Maritime Shipping Award by KVNR.

2014; a study to make the conversion of a 3000 ton MPV vessel to operate on MGO instead of HFO economical viable. Study was carried out with TNO and lead to fuel savings up to 20%. Awarded with the Fathom Shipping Efficiency Initiative of the year 2016 together with a consecutive project.

2015; over 10% fuel savings realized on an ill-designed general cargo vessel by implementing various technical and operational measures.

2015; during the regular dry docking of an external client’s liner MPP vessel the cause to her high fuel consumption was determined; the steering of the vessel was extremely unstable. The autopilot was adjusted in such way it masked the rudder flap being loosened on her stock.

2016; an energy efficiency scan was performed on a large container vessel in service. Various operational guidelines could be given to the operator in order to improve the fuel consumption, but also to the crew in their routine operations.

2016; big data in shipping; by connecting sensors on a 5500 ton MPV vessel with a shore based control center, various actions to reduce fuelconsumption could be trialed and verified. Awarded with the Fathom Shipping Efficiency Initiative of the year 2016 together with an earlier project.

2016; a study and return on investment calculation was made to run a short sea vessel in port on battery power. The study proved to be viable  and a request for MIT support was filed but not realized.

2016; a study on shaft generator efficiency was made based on the data of other projects. Even single speed PTO applications are proven to be operated in an inefficient suboptimal manner.

2017; provided guidance and support in development of new energy efficiency  tools to various manufacturers of maritime equipment.
